Believe it or not one of the big things with driving that I've faced along with my peers is falling asleep on the road. Tell your son if he is at all tired or gets the lazy eye while driving, to pull over and let someone else drive or just pull over to stretch and walk around a bit. Sometimes even just watching the back of the car in front of you and not looking around can make you tired.
When I was 17 years old and driving home from work at 4:00 in the afternoon, I fell asleep on the road and drove into a ditch. In the process of driving in this ditch I blew out my tire. My parents to this day still think that I blew out my tire and had no idea I had actually fallen asleep on the road. A relative of mine also fell asleep on the road and hit the cement barrier in the middle of the road and totalled his car. I turned up the air conditioning, turned down the windows, turned up the music, but I still fell asleep.
Anyway, that was my embarassing driving moment and lesson learned.
