I would also list a car on a dealers lot on consignment Posted by Misplacedyankee [Email] (#1756) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Misplacedyankee) on Tue, 26 Apr 2005 06:59:07 In Reply to: Anyone ever sell a vehicle to CarMax?, Clay McNeely [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 25 Apr 2005 11:28:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
One option is to list the car on a dealers lot on consignment if its not your daily driver. Most dealers will practice this. I did this with a late model Honda I had - worked with a Honda dealer - told them what I wanted to get for it (being reasonable) and he took whatever he could get over my needs. He sold it in 3 weeks. Worked like a charm. I recommend finding a dealer that sells that brand or model vehicle.
Carmax is ok, but shop around. There are a ton of cars for cash places around and call a few of them and they will give you a price. As Mike said you will consistently be told an auction value, but sometimes one might be $1k higher. Worth a shot.
