The Norton Ghost 9.0 I bought came this morning. Right now I am ghosting the 40 gb hard drive on my laptop to a 20 gb external HD through USB connection. It is proceeding rather slowly. With compression the 31 gb files, software and OS should squeeze onto the 20 gigger.
When the back up is complete, I want to pull the 40 gigger and install the 80 gigger I bought. Looking ahead, please tell me my plan is proper.
After I install the 80 gigger on the laptop, I want to install the OS using the recovery CD's which came with the laptop to restore the XP Pro OS. Then I install Norton Ghost again to the new 80 gb HD with the new OS. Then it should see the HD image I backed up to the external HD. I then restore the image to the 80 gb HD. After completing the restoration, I then reboot to get the original files, software and network identity back.
Am I making sense or I am completely off?
