Looking for advice...I'm installing a custom made steel cellar door, the bulkhead kind with two doors, all metal. It will be bolted to concrete with Hilti bolts. My question is: I seem to recall seeing somewhere, an installation using apprx. 1/4 inch felt padding between the metal door and the concrete, probably oil or silicone impregnated...to weatherseal and act as a go between the uneven surfaces of the concrete. I can't find this recommendation anywhere however, all recomendations say to just caulk the edges. This seems inadequate to me...am I thinking old school here? before the advent of modern caulk etc. ? Opinions please ,,thanks.
