Sounds so rich doesn't it, but what I really mean is a sailing club. Our local one, the Harbor Island Yacht Club is a sailboat rental club. $200-300 to join and $36 a month for which you can apply towards a sailboat rental once a month. The Club has scads of Catalina Capri 22's, $47 a half day, so a months sailing costs me an extra $11 sometimes. A Capri 22 is a darn good keelboat, fourstroke outboad, radio, lights, porta-potti in the cabin and the club keeps them in decent shape If I've got a crowd and want to impress a Catalina 27 or 32 is availible for $175-275 a day.
Beer can races all summer long with the 22 fleet and longer races to the Coronados about 12 miles away in the 27s, 28s, 32s and 36s and I think the club has a 42 for the flotillas to Catalina 60-90 miles.
Great way to sail, a variety of boats as needed and a fraction of the cost of boat ownership.
