No wonder the manufacturers are losing their shirts. The Unionised system will have a hand in bringing down GM. The main problem is that the cars themselves are absolute sh*te. IMHO, teaming SAAB with Opel was about as good an arrangement as we could have reasonably expected to hope for. Teaming SAAB with Renault would be comparable as far as marriages go. I think it will more than 50% likely happen. GM is up sh*t creek far more than anyone can imagine, and selling Subaru was the tip of the iceberg. SAAB will be next, maybe even the whole European operation. Cadillac out of Europe. They would sell Hummer if they got the right offer, but who the hell would buy an SUV manufacturer in 2005?
GM needs to consolidate Chevy & Saturn into one value brand in non-union plants, put Buick where they sent Oldsmobile (which was a better division than Buick ever was), and call Cadillac their premium brand, GMC their work brand, and wake up and realise that humanity is going to identify Hummer for the great waste that it really is.
