The crossover should be way more durable than the speaker. If you don't see burned components-don't spend time on the crossover. Gen a multimeter and put it on AC volts and connect to both terminals of the speaker line. Do not short wires together ever. Put some music through and set the AC range down until you get a reading (music sensitive of course). There should be some voltage, around 1 to 10V, hopping about with the music. Once successful, measure the voltage across the tweeter. This should be between 0.1 to 5V, even more music sensitive. If so, the crossover is probably OK. Now unsolder one wire to the speaker (be careful not to unsolder the tweeter's wire from the connector). Turn the multimeter to ohms (resistance) and measure the two terminals of the tweeter (one not connected to the crossover). If the resistance is withing 2 to 30 ohms it's not burned out. If you do replace the tweeter make sure to note the wire colors and their connection to the tweeter (there will be a paint spot or "+" on one terminal). Good luck.
