Haha I know this is random, but the stairs in my hundred-year-old house sound like an elephant is climbing them. Each stair has its own distinct creak which can be heard throughout the whole house, and probably across town as well.
The carpeting is going to be ripped up soon and either replaced, or the wood underneath will be refinished and left bare.
Is there a way to de-creak old stairs? I've googled, and didn't really find anything useful.
If it matters, there is no access to the bottom of the stairs, so it would have to be from the top...Any ideas?
