They are supposed to give current market cash value with my policy. What would it take to buy a similar car? They all use a computer program called "CCC" which has info on cars for sale. They use this program to come up with at least 2 cars for sale. They obvious hand pick the two. This came to about $2250. They lied on the phone about who was selling the cars and the condition. You get the actual cars and can call to see what's up. I called on the cars that were for sale that they used. I also did a lot of research with cars actually for sale in the same area to show the numbers were wrong. Average was about 3400. I sent them a letter and they switched gears. They atarted saying that they had to base their number on talking to "used car sales managers." Made a big deal of the title. They then got "John" last name unknown who answered the phone at a Saab dealer to say he would sell it for $1000-1500. This dealer never has 9000's or old 900's. I can't find who they talked to.. Too many Johns. They basically averaged that number with what a real Saab sales manager who has 7 9000's on his lot right now had to say(3500 -4500), and their number. They ignored the cars I sent them that were for sale. They didn't contact the third dealer who has one at full KBB retail value right now. They didn't take into account recent repairs which they say they would. Thay are offering about 2550 now. This porgram that they use "CCC," collects values on cars for sale. They pick the low values, not the average values. You can't see the other cars in the porgram. The adjuster tells you they also look at KKK private party. That's not what they told me when I renewed coverage this year and that is not anywhere on the company site. If they had not thrown in the bogus numbers the average would have been fair if disappointing. Now I am mad. I the appraiser got me $340 that would be ok. I can aford the money. I have 4 cars and 1 house with this company and been with them for years. Next step is to pay for an adjuster but they want me to tell them that before I do it. This will cost them too. THey will ahve to hire an adjuster. If they can't agree they hire a third and we split the cost. Do you think they will up the offer I start the process? I don't know. Meanwhile they are paying the storage on my car and I can get an additional 25 a day for a rental which I have not bothered to do yet.
