Modern cars must run hotter to meet emissions and mileage specs. That is to much for modern regular oils. They cook and sludge. Changing more often helps but won't cure the cause. Even synthetics are stressed. Euro specs are even tougher for Eurpeans have a diff. view of car ownership. The Euro refineries stepped up and super refined the oils to make them last. But they are very expensive. Eurpeans are used to that. Americans love to look rich but hate actually affording it. So the the ownership psychology opposed the reality of the new cars. Properly installed oils are too expensive. Emagine the effects.
