Or at least, get very desperate to come up with ideas.
As Mike says, the words summon up concepts of clean lines and curves; very Scandanavian modern. From a math standpoint, linear imples a first order equation - simple and basic. An arc is a second order equation, more complex. A vector is a different mathmatical concept, which can be even more complex than an arc (or very simple). And of course Aero, well, Aero has nothing to do with the first three, but it sounds nice, too.
In reality, the words sound nice, and the summon up ideas and concepts the marketeers want associated with the car.
For example, they could have also said Basic, Squiggly, and One Big Reason You Failed Calculus, and it would mean the same as Linear, Arc, and Vector. But I'll bet it wouldn't sell cars. And the very descriptive Stripped , Nicer but You're Still Too Cheap for all the Options, and Everything Under the Sun.
Face it, if they could get away with calling it the Saab Buy This Car and You'll get lucky tonight, or the Saab Don't You Look Cool in This? and get away with it, they'd do it. At least it's better than the totally uninspired L, LX, and LXE, variations of which have been slapped on every vehicle since they stopped using horses to pull them.
Frankly, any rationale for car names is made up. All that matters is that it sounds nice and summons up warm, fuzzy, spend-money feelings.
