better still,provide motherboard name and number but that maybe asking a bit too much if you're not into that sort of things.

First, what integrated graphics chip does your computer has now ?

Second, what slots do you have available for an external graphics card, is it PCI-e (PCIexpress) or the older AGP slot ?

Third, how much memory do you have now in the computer, I think you may want to add more if your son starts getting into heavy gaming....

Also think about a game timer so he doesn't spend all day with it.

I prefer nVidia cards, so anything that says 64MB GeForce3-class video card would do, does the game ask for DirectX 9c or something like that too ?

Go to http://www.newegg.com and see a list of these things....lots to choose from and varying in price.

If you are not sure about whether the card would work or not and if the price differential isn't too much, I would suggest buying an on sale item from a retail store close to you so you can return (check re-stocking fee if any) it if things don't work.

Went through this with one of my daughter's game, she had an older (as in 2+ year old) computer and needed a DirectX 9c card, ended up getting her a new computer instead. Now she has the fastest computer in the house 8-).
