Some sites might offer a qty discount for 24 cells.
I had a razor with Sanyo Cadnica cells that had the cells outlast the product... 20 years. That that is my not very scientific preference.
The cell packs that I have worked on have all been no-name cells. What I often find are cells that are shorted out, causing others to overcharge. Discharge quickly lowers the output voltage and the pack is quite useless.
I had the drill pack rebuilt at batteries plus years ago and they used no-name cells and that pack turned to garbage just like the original sears cells.
When you build the battery pack, take some pix of the old one for reference. Get a block of wood to align cells in row. Tack cells with a hot melt glue gun. After soldering is done, use the glue gun to finalize things. When working on a brick of cells, you may need to do the gluing in stages. Some tape might be of use for a third hand.
When removing wires from the old brick, cut and include flat connectors attached to the wires and see how to utilize such before cutting shorter.
