Knucklehead dealer.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sun, 16 Jul 2006 13:49:52 In Reply to: Beware of Wigwam Saab, cautote, Sat, 15 Jul 2006 19:50:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sounds like a typical idiot sales management decision. I could understand, not agree, but understand if it was a new car. Then if there was a short term problem you'd be within your rights to return the car without the wifes signature and the dealer would be stuck with a used car with the warranty started and ineligible for all the finance and lease programs.
On a used car however, if the transactions is subsequently not completed, then it's still a used car, no real loss to the dealer if they get or have to take the car back. Inconvienence and effort lost yes, but not the consequences of a new car being returned, which starts the warranty and makes it a used car.
Wigwam huh? Is that too far away from civilization and computers that they couldn't find a lender open on weekends? With GMAC and good credit you don't even need a human or open lender, loans are often automatically approved by the computer.
And back to the sales manager, couldn't he run a credit report and make an informed decision, no brain death, itsa' darned used car, roll it!
I would never fudge a signature on a contract where there's money involved. I would deliver the car and FedEx the contract to the wife after getting her verbal agreement.
Betcha' they do realize they blew it although one of the reasons they may have been jerks is because they did in fact have the car sold to someone else for more. If that was the case, one salesman with an incomplete deal versus another salesman raring to go and for more money, then I could be a little more sympathetic to the sales manager, but IMHO there was plenty of ways for them to go with you.
