...Lemon laws apply mostly to state residents, so your home state and the dealership state may not protect you.
You may double pay taxes and then need to apply for the dealership state to send a refund.
In NYC and other large cities, local shoppes won't want to work on your warantee work unless you bought the car there. They don't care about whether or not they are right. If you complain to the central office, they say they will be glad to work on your car, it is just that they are booked solid for 3 months.
Get in writing that they will honor lemon laws in their state AND your state despite your being an out of state buyer. If they balk, ask if they are in teh habbit of selling bad cars or standing behind their product. Be loud so other customers hear. They will back off if they are smart.
I have also seen some really terrific deals. A close friend bought a Cadilac from an out of state Internet dealership and got a stellar car for many thousands less that regular dealerships. I guess no overhead and no sales staff means less cost.
