Hey Chip,
The only difference is I had good grades in high school but not such a great SAT score. I had about a 3.5 gpa. I took 3 AP classes but I only got 3s which were not good enough at most of the school I applied. It was the last year of the regular Sats and I only got an 1170. I applied to several schools in MA including Nichols, Clark University, Bentley, and Assumption. The truth is high school was boring. I used to fall asleep almost everyday after lunch...maybe it was because I hadn't eaten breakfast. I wouldn't be interested in what someone wrote 300 years ago. I'm more interested in today and the writings of the present. By the time your 17 or 18 you have a basic understanding as to what you want to do with your life. For me it wasn't reading Shakespeare, it was business, and my high school didn't offer any good business classes. In the end, with my grades and Sat scores...I got into all of the schools but Bentley. They wait-listed me so I had absolutely no time for them. Out of all of my packages and scholarship offers, Clark University gave me the best bang for the buck. Why not graduate from #81 in the country? Your daughter will do fine, but for the better schools make sure she completes an interview. Hope that helps somewhat. There is hope.
