Food in Hong Kong

Just returned from a trip in the Far East. Went to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. This was my first trip to Hong Kong and it was an eye opener, in particular on food. Cantonese dishes have always been my favorite among Chinese cuisines, for its lighter flavor and the variety of sea food used. But the Cantonese dishes in Hong Kong are likely a little different from those you get from other places, certainly from those in the States. People in Hong Kong are so particular about seafood they want them live before being butchered and cooked.
A local acqaintance took us to a fishing village, Sai-Kung, 45 minute bus ride away from the Hong Kong city center. There fisherman hawked their catch in bins on the boat. You can buy what you want to take home to cook. We ate a one of the many restaurants at the wharf where every dish is prepared with live ingredient also in bins right in front of the restaurant. If you like seafood and visit Hong Kong, Sai Kung is the place you must go to if you have time. Just keep in mind all Chinese food is best enjoyed with a group of people so you can taste the variety. One or two person is really not ideal to enjoyed what Chinese food has to offer.
But too much of a good thing may not be good for me after all. After three days of one sumptuous meal after another, I kind of lost apetite. I hardly ate anything on the return flight back to Newark, NJ. All I wanted was a bowl of cereal and fresh milk.
