Things you can do.....Re: Chinese tires Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Chinese tires, yaofeng, Sun, 14 Oct 2007 07:51:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
First, Chinese may not automatically mean life-threatening.
Second, there are a couple of things you can do.
1. Check tire pressure.
2. Inspect for wear, nails, cuts or bulges.
3. Check that all tires are the same size, manufacturer and model (ie.: snow tires and drag slicks don't belong together).
4. Look for a bent rim; the tire may have been damaged in that incident.
5. Check....are all of the wheel bolts tight?
6. Look for signs of dry rot.
7. Check to see if the wear level is similar on all tires. A bald tire with three new tires would be a red flag.
8. Look at the tire wear pattern....cords showing on the front inside or serious cupping.
Finally....if you're doing all of your driving on an island where the speeds are generally between 20-45 MPH, adjust your reactions to the above checks accordingly. AND....no extreme performance testing with a car you know nothing about....be a little conservative in your driving...it may cost you a minute or two....in exchange for???
