Three months without a charge is enough to kill most batteries. I store my 90 Miata during salty winters in a friend's garage, where he keeps his Vette off the road for the same reason. We have both learned, and studied on, the damage deep discharge does to auto batteries. A smart trickle charger is on the job full time now. We both tried starting the cars every few weeks. But, that is not good for engines and their unlubed parts. My friend lost a battery in a brand new Vette after it went somewhat over a month without any charging. GM replaced it on warranty. The AGM batteries in Miatas can go for close to a decade IF kept properly charged.
A disciplined dealer who is taking care of business will have a program of maintaining batteries.
