New is lovely. And no repairs are wonderful.

But spending $4-6K a year, plus higher taxes and insurance, just to drive a new car is not a good deal unless your ego feels you "deserve" or "need" to have a new car. Assuming a given car does what you want or need it to do, I don't understand why paying more is better than paying less.

The only answer is what's right for each person, but leasing to me is like renting a car forever. It can make sense at the lower end of the scale, where one simply needs a reliable car and have no spare cash to support unpredictable repairs. But beyond that I can't make the argument work.
