The lakes north of Milan are beautiful with lots of good roads for exploring. You could even duck into Switzerland to Lugano.
The Dolomitis are spectacular too between Bolzano and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Skip Pisa. Unbelievably overrated. Buy the postcard instead.
Florence is worth a few days by itself. Ditto for Rome (of course). I'd take a train to both. And there's always Venice.
Tuscan hill towns like Siena and Sam Gimignano are great.
Ligurian coast between Genoa and Livorno, etc.
You could do a loop from Milan to Aosta (IT), through the Mt.Blanc Tunnel to Chamonix (FR), down to Albertville, pick up E70 before you get to Chambery and take that back into Italy (heading towards Turin). Or, instead of E70 into Italy, get on N6 near Modane (FR) and take the twisties back into Italy (if the pass is open). Turns into SS25 in Italy and intersects with E70 near Gaglione (IT) and then on to Turin.
