I have a 2006 9-3SC so, yes, I think there is something special about this car. It's certainly not unique but for the money I paid ($23762, brand new out the door) there's nothing else out there that comes close from a handling and safety features standpoint. Any Audi would've been at least $10K more expensive, Toyota didn't have a similar product (forget the Matrix), and I didn't want to sell my sones for a Benz.

Now I'm looking to add a 2006 or newer 9-5 wagon to the household and, again, for the money they can't be beat. There are some incredible deals out there for wagons with between 15K and 20K miles (between $17K - $18K, and less if you want a sedan). Looks may be nothing special to some and I'd prefer to have rear curtain airbags but reliability in 2006+ is outstanding and I know I could put 150K or more on that car and not be tired of the way it drives. Try to find a competitive product for the same outlay of money and you'll have a difficult time.

Besides, in California at least, our illustrious legislature and the Governator have plans to double the annual car fees (taxes) so a used Saab 9-5 wagon for $17K looks a lot better to my pocketbook than a $35K Lexus IS350 (aka Toyota) IMHO.
