Imho, if Saab were to bring back the Sonett, it should be reflective of the original. One of the problems now is the 9-3 and 9-5 are too much alike! sedan/wagon for each and almost the same size (and price after discounting)! Saab can't afford to compete with Saab anymore (stupid GM)...

There is a market for a 2 seater. The problem is that market was stronger 5-10 years ago when the economy was booming and the Baby Boomers had the $$$ to throw at "fun" cars and their children had grown up and had become tech-boom "DINKs"... I had friends (in the latter category) with SLK, TT, Boxster, Z3 etc thanks to great stock options, but most of them are driving minivans now... Imho it would be foolish for Saab to try and sell a Sonett in this recession.

For people with kids, 9-3 + 9-5 are great. We've got 2 carseats + a full seat for an adult in the back of our C900. I actually thought the 1999-2001 9-5 was a brilliant example of Scandinavian design + style (successively botched by GM going forward). I'd love to see more of that in a new 9-5 (sedan/wagon). For the 9-3, I'd love to see a SPG inspired hatch (3 + 5 door) and a sedan if need be. Most of the Saab concepts over the last decade have been underwhelming for me, and style-wise, more reflective of German + American + Asian biases than Swedish...
