I have a 4-yr old Samsung 56" DLP, 1080i.
Looking at turning an unused PC into a HTPC.
Considering adding a Blu-ray drive to it.
Will I notice a substantial difference on my 56" 1080i vs regular DVD?
To complicate a little, I have a Hi-Def conversion DVD player. It's supposed to upconvert to 1080i, and the image does look great. Will Blu-ray be noticeable improvement (once again, 1080i TV)?
To continue with my current DVD player, it's a Samsung HD841 I picked up a few years ago. Has DVI-D (yeah, an early model before universal switch to HDMI) and component video. I've been using the DVI-D, as IIRC, a review I read at the time gave it better marks over component. Googling around here at lunch, I see references to firmware upgrade and hacking to enable 1080i from component. Just got the firmware, still searching for 1080i over component. The TV only has a single HDMI (dang 4-yr old TV).
Rambled some here at the end, really want help on the Blu-ray question.
