I had a reputable local shop do my ’02 9-5 for $125
I used a kit to restore them but they clouded back within a month.
They told me its because all the old UV protectant must be removed.
And that’s going to take forever if you don’t have an air sander or whatever.
If the old protectant is left there it just yellows/ clouds again…
He said the OEMs use crappy UV coating, don’t know if that’s true or not.
They totally strip the headlights then spray on a coat of UV protectant.
They told me they haven’t had a set come back in 5 years.
Mine were bad and they look brand new now.
I’d like to know what coating they are spraying on there…
I wouldn’t bother with a kit, considering a ‘good’ one is $50 plus all the time you’ll spend doing it.
