That's the first thing I'd think of. It costs money to re-engineer the motor to fit into a new place. And remember, the motors in the 9-3 and new 9-5 are GM sourced anyway. The last "all Saab" motor left the factory in the lat of the OG 9-5s.
Saab had to do a lot of work to get the B234 from the 9000 into the NG.
Saab will have to work on a shoestring for a while yet. But if they could get their variable displacement motor anywhere, the retro on a MINI platform might be a good spot for it.
