is something for which history doesn't really provide any pointers. It's terra incognita. Reminds me of old world maps, where unexplored areas would say, "here there be dragons"

What I fear most, and think we're finding, is that this is the "new normal." Yes, with 10-15% unemployment, slow/no growth. Or negative growth. And it will cycle up and down from where we are. If this is the case, and we look at the present economy as the baseline, then the picture sure so great, but it's better than if we look at everything as being down from where we'd like it to be. That was then, this is now.

That this train wreck of an economy is global is a mild consolation. But just maybe we're learning that living a bit lower key is actually OK. What's hard is dialing back one's expectations.
