Very good point on ice vs. snow. I do wonder though how many of those slides in the video were due to worn tires (not legally "worn" but too little tread and too little of the good tread for the icy driving condition). That's why I always try to stay off road after the first few snow storms of the season, not because of any mobility difficulty on my own part, but because other drivers are not yet clued in on how worn their tires have become after 9 months of warm weather driving.
Even on a specifically marketed winter tire, only the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the tread is specifically designed for ice, with the myriads of sipes and proper compounds in that layer, below which neither the sipes nor the special compounds are present.
The problem with using specifically marketed winter tire in my area is that the weather pattern here in New England tend to be wildly fluctuating: two days after the snow storm that dumped 15" of snow, it was 50+ degrees (F) again . . . and that's the end of December / beginning of January. The fluctuations in late October through early December, and February Thaw thru early April are even worse. Running winter tires specifically marketed for winter from end of October to beginning of April in this area is almost guaranteed to have the top layer (the "good" layer) worn away before the middle of the second winter, when one really needs that "good" layer. Tread wear is fastest when new, then slow down significantly. BTW, anyone keeping tires long enough for them to be legally "worn" is actually driving around with worn tires most of the time . . . unsafe for even rain, much less snow/ice.
