The wood boiler (fed with 4 ft logs or split wood) heats a water loop that is pumped to a heat exchanger in the bonnet of his furnace, then to another heat exchanger on one of his two LP fired water heaters, then to a third heat exchanger on the radiant heating loop for his walk-out basement floor slab.
The furnace is also LP fired and is supplemental heat for the house if the wood boiler funs out of fuel, and also provides A/C for summer cooling.
The two water heaters are for domestic water (he has a large Roman Spa type whirlpool tub that has never been used - hence two water heaters).
I believe he also has a small LP boiler for the in-slab radiant heat if the wood boiler is not running.
The wood boiler can, and usually does, provide all the heat for all three systems - forced air heat, domestic hot water, slab radiant heat. The whole system is a plumber's nightmare, or plumber's dream dream if the plumber has a minimal questions asked service contract.
