That may make a huge difference.
The Classic 900 top requires stapling, stretching and trimming the top material for a proper fit. Get it wrong in places, and it won't look right.
I've reviewed the service manual, and while there is nothing there that is difficult - so long as you have the proper tools - it is also very fiddly, and rather easy to get wrong. I decided that, should I ever need to do one, it's best left to those who do it every day.
On the NG900/9-3, though I've not looked into it in any depth, I believe that those tops are fully trimmed, and would be less likely for a DIY-er to get wrong. But I don't know if there are special tools that are required, or at least recommended for an easier time with it.
