Mazda CX-9 is a pretty pleasant drive if you are looking for sporty. Accurate steering with good feel, firmly damped ride. It is at the end of its model run, so all the kinks have been worked out by now and there are some good deals to be had. Rear seats are mounted too low for comfort but Pathfinder is even worse in this regard.
GM Lambda platform cars are very good, too. Buick Enclave is amazingly quiet and very comfortable. Chevy Traverse is more sporty -- I would say it feels as good as the Mazda, with excellent steering feel and firmly damped ride. I have not driven the Acadia. In my opinion, Traverse is the best value with all the discounts you can get. I really like the new interior with the dark red/brown trim and mood lighting. All Lambda cars are extremely roomy and the rear seats are mounted high enough to feel like you are sitting in a real car and not a truck (with your knees up to your chin.) They have good cargo space even behind the third row, which is pretty unique for crossovers (vs minivans.) Safety wise they are outstanding -- they even have an airbag that deploys between driver and passenger so their skulls don't smash together in a side collision.
