I think the 9-5 is fine for trailer towing up to it's owner's manual limits but for the aforementioned reasons, you have to go easy ( conservative) on the tongue weight. Perhaps the 2006 and up with it's improved suspension bushings included with the 1,367 changes would allow Swedes and other 9-5 owners to haul their trailers around with almost full impunity. In my opinion, the maximum tongue weight should be considered a worst case scenario recommendation at full trailer weight. Numerous opinions exist but the tongue weight should come in between 9-15% of GWT - Gross Trailer weight. It's a metric you need to get right or you will be courting dynamic instability.
