Two SAAB Formula S / Quantum IV cars discovered within the past w 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 28 Apr 2024 14:15:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The Formula S or Quantum IV is an open wheel race car commissioned by SAAB-USA in 1964 to spur creation of a new SCCA Racing Class, Formula S, to compete against the Formula V and Formula F cars in hopes of boosting SAAB's US sales.
One of the two recently discovered cars had its chassis stored outside, under a tarp, for 40 years and the chassis looked really rough in photos. It had previously been raced with a number of modifications made from the original design. It's body had been stored indoors and no photos were provided.
The latest discovery consists of one pristine chassis, and two bodies, and the other special pieces need for assembly. This info prior to the final inventory.
So, if you want to get into Vintage Racing with a stroker SAAB, or are already into vintage racing but want an open wheel car, now could be your time.
