Our club (MN Saab Club) seems to be mostly a social gathering. We meet monthly at a local restaurant - a lot of BS'ing with other members. A nearby Saab dealer (Meyer Saab in IA) attends a fair number of them and Andrews of Princeton is almost always represented. Occasionally they will present some information about common parts failures, things to look for etc. They've are a real asset to the club.
Nearly every month we also watch some rally videos - that's fun.
Since I've been a member (6 months), we've been doing more TSD (Time Speed Distance) type rallies. We are planning a gravel road event this season also. All of these events have been with the local Alfa-Romeo Owners Club. I also know that the local German clubs do a lot of shared events so you should try to get in contact with any other local clubs. BMW clubs are quite strong across the U.S. as are Porsche.
Good luck!
Bryce
