Just did it. 430 Ohm and Single LED's aren't bright enough. >>> Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Wed, 10 Oct 2001 21:27:59 In Reply to: Blue LED dash pic, post, Tue, 9 Oct 2001 23:15:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'll have to get 2 more LED's and try to go parallel. The hole I drilled will be fine, I think. It'll be tight, but it should work. I hope the hole in the dash will fit 2 LED's.
All in all, though, this is a damn cool looking mod! Good work, Post!
I think one problem that contributes to not enough light is that LED's are very focused and emit light out the tip. The regular light bulbs emit a more spherical pattern. I also think there are 2 "reflectors" on hanging down from the top of the gauge cluster so the bulbs don't shine in the driver's face. These reflectors may be black plastic or may have a shiny surface. If they're black plastic, I bet all of the LED brightness is getting soaked up. Maybe the power of 2 LED's per side will give me the illumination I want.
More news when I try the parallel LED's. I'll have to try it this weekend when I get a chance.
