Do you people not realize that the only thing touching the road EVER on ANY car, Saab, Yugo, Ferrari, whatever, is your tires? Why would you try to get by with just 2 tires when all 4 are worn out? You are asking to go backwards over an embankment or oversteer or understeer or whatever you want into a tree. Buy some freakin' tires already!
Do not cut corners when it comes to tires. It is not worth it.
