I'm plenty happy in Portland, but I've got my eye on moving up the corporate ladder. Yeah, it sounds bad, but Portland's the sort of city where its o.k. to have a full-time job at Starbucks and -0- in your pocket.
Frankly, the state of affairs is so bad in Portland that finding another job after this contract runs its course is going to be tough again.
I did visit Denver last winter, and may visit again. It looks like alot of sprawl is happening.. Many new McHouses everywhere, especially near the airport.
Portland does have its upside, I'm only 45 min from Mt. Hood and go there almost every weekend. But, on the other hand, this place is sooo sleepy...
The other advantage Denver has is that after a year or so, apparently this position will become a "virtual" position, so I'd be home-officed.
I don't get to the coast much in Oregon, the only time its nice to visit is summer time...
Think rough New England winters when you think of the coast in Oregon. Very windy and rainy.
We'll see what happens, this company hasn't flown me out yet, so we'll just wait.
