1. The initial installation did not install IRDA, which is the item I need for LIRC.
2. I am new to the linux xconfig bizz., so for my laptop I most probably need to make a few changes to the xconfig, just to get the kernel to load without errors.
3. So I am nt sure what to include and exclude from the xconfig interface.
4. As someone else pointed out, That T8000 is a nightmare! I have tried everything including drugs, s*x and rock-and-roll, but it didn't work this time.
5. The kernel compiles OK. I can even boot my PC. But loads of [FAILED] messages are stopping the system from getting to the GUI (GNOME).
6. I did a search on the http://www, but those with a T8000 have not yet reached 2.4.7-10 yet! And I want to attempt 2.4.16 before the end of the year as well.
All help and advise welcome. ANd thanks to those who commented so far.
