Posted this on the 9-3 board - but I don't think it posted properly...
I would call a saab dealer (since you're buying from an independent dealer) and say that "...I am looking at a preowned car from a private dealer, can you look up the warrany
history on the car" you can also tell them you plan to have it serviced by them - just feed them some b.s. When they do that,
ask if they have the dealer code of the original selling dealer - it will be on their computer display when they look up the
vehicle history.... then find out the name of the original selling dealer to get the service history to see if it was serviced
regularly.
For a 5sp with cloth and those miles, the local saab dealer I deal with would probably sell it for $16.8-$17.2K - certified and in
mint condition -a dealer in Connecticut. I am going to buy a 1999 9-3 base - loaded for $17.5K - with only 29K miles in
showroom condition. Dealer is great and always has loaner cars. Could probably go elsewhere and get one for closer to $17
but this is a good dealer with good mechanics.
