I just read an article on the Internet, it sounds like Afghanistan needs many more troops to help prop up the interim government. I think it they send in too many U.S. troops, people there might get pissed at our presence, like in Somalia. If it were a U.N. force, of the about 30,000 that Karzai says they need, then that would work better. But it sounds like that many troops have not been forthcoming, so maybe there is a real chance things will start to fall apart there. I wonder just how much the country wants to "stay together" and what degree of force they really need to keep a government in in the long run. Right now they dont even have a military, except for all the militias of the Northern Aliance which are controlled by local warlords who have no aligiance to the new government besides idealogy, for whatever that counts for in Afghanistan.
