Though you are right that it is possible that, one day, the unimaginable could happen and On-Star could summon help to the rescue, the odds of having an unwitnessed accident that renders the occupants unconscious is extremely slim.
Believing that On-Star will save your a$$ in an emergency is "stupid"; the desire to be free of unwanted surveillance is merely an expression of one's civil liberties, which, the last time I checked anyway, is a fundamental right in this country.
