I was sickened by the bureaucratic shitstorm and the obviousness of corporate influence on our national policy making. I was especially infuriated by the NHTSA chief from the Bronco II era (who authored the movie you mentioned). This guy so obviously bowed to his corporate backers (Ford) and misled the public on important matters of vehicle safety that he deserves a special place in hell next to Dhamer.
Oh and how about Nasser . . . “we didn’t widen the 2002 Explorer to make it safer, we widened it to make it roomier.” This, following years of rollover problems and recent safety concerns centering around the Firestone tire fiasco. Heaven forbid he admit prior design weakness.
What is the cost of one’s soul these days?
Conclusion: Watch this program if it comes up again on PBS. As for me, I’m going to sell my econobox and purchase a second Saab to protect my wife and daughter against;
1. Idiot/insane drivers
2. Idiot/insane drivers of SUV’s
3. Idiot/insane drivers of poorly designed SUV’s
4. Idiot/insane drivers of poorly designed SUV’s driving on defective tires
