I can understand that... but the reality is that a 10+ year old car is goign to break down, no matter who made it... Why not embrace the reality of owning a car as an advertising idea, rather than deny it with all the poofy/fluffy/good-feeling drivel they pump... as a tail end boomer generation, I think most advertising is useless on me... I've just seen so much that it is all jujst "more of the same"... A commercial that gains some respect for the company is more likely to gain my acceptance than one who pours fluffy dreams all over me.
So why not use ads that bring car ownership to the level we all know it is? Why not use the concept of long term reliability, why not introduce the concept that there are some cars that just seem to draw people into relationships? Why not talk about the uniqueness...
What we see in Saab , what makes this group so passionate about their cars is something Saab ought to look at with more focus.
Why is the northeast full of Saabs? What qualities do we in NE attribute to the brand? Seems to me there is likely a treasure trove of information there that is being left untapped? Everyone on these boards that comes into NE from "away" is blwon away by the number of Saabs they see on the road. Saab "appears" to be a huge success in New England, but it can't be just the snow... perhaps there is some connection to the thriftyness of the avg New Englander and the long term performnace off Saabs.. who knows... perhaps Saab should ask??
