and I read the whole article, seems a little bogus. "Driving with a cellphone is more dangerous than driving drunk?" But let's put that aside. Also, no anger here. I just want to see the statistics. The accident rate has neither increased nor decreased significantly here based on cell phone usage. As far as I see it, you have the same boneheads "driving impaired while cellphoning" that you had before who were "driving impaired while newspaper reading" or "driving impaired while gorging fresh donuts and coffee". Recent cell phone banning laws imposed by states (and some cities) in this country have had absolutely no, zero, zip, nada effect on the mishap rate. So what is to be gained? Don't know. For drivers? Probably nothing. For Members of Parliament? perhaps political exposure and capital. Or maybe it just makes 'em feel good.
