In New York State, it is illegal to drive with no shoes on. I got a ticket several years ago for this.
Obviously, the cop couldn't see that I had no shoes on... he pulled over my 96 because it had no working lights at the time (and then wrote me up for no windshield wipers, no parking brake, broken rear window, and other issues). Then he told me that if I could get them fixed within a week and get a statement from a mechanic, the ticket would be thrown out. That's what started my adventure fixing my own Saabs!
