Help! I have a 92 SAAB 900S that I acquired at the end of December 2001. I am the second owner. My understanding is that the previous owner only used the car to travel from NJ to Cape Cod. At the time I acquired the car it only had 90K miles and its maintenance was up to date with no history of problems. Since then I've put 15K miles on it without any problem. However, recently it has been idling rough when stopped (e.g., at a stop light). It also has given me a problem when I start it after it has sat for a while (it will start up and idle for 10-15 seconds and then conk out). A local mechanic told me that one of the fuel injectors was sticking and dumping gas into the cylinder. He used a relatively new cleaning system (MotorVac CarbonClean) two days ago to address the problem, but I'm continuing to have the same problem. It seems to run fine on the highway, but I'm defintiely noticing that when I shift gears and the RPMs are low, it seems to struggle. My question is whether this is something that anyone else has encountered and do you have any suggestions as to what I can expect or do? Does a 10 year old SAAB with 115K miles have life left in it? Am I going to encounter a lot of maintenance issues at this point? Thanks.
