Oh, my. It’s interesting how such a little word can get such a rise out of you men! (Puns fully intentional.) I would first like to make a formal apology about the generalization that I used in regards to penises and auto mechanic mojo. I do realize that men also have bad experiences with deceptive mechanics. I didn’t mean to say that this type of thing only happens to women, it just happens to me ALL THE TIME. The fact that I happen to be just over five feet with blonde hair and a high-pitched voice probably doesn’t help me to be taken seriously by mechanics, but that’s who I am, and I don’t think I should have to change that to be listened to.

The reality is, I do all of the DIY work on the autos at our house – my husband is clueless, and I grew up rebuilding classics. So, in response to TexRon, I don’t need a man to take my car to the dealer for me (why would I perpetuate the women-don’t-know-crap-about-cars stereotype?), and I am a knowledgeable consumer. It’s just really frustrating to have someone look me right in the eye and treat me like I’m completely ignorant when it comes to my own vehicle just because I’m a girl.

To Ed G – according to Webster it’s penes or penises – but I like penae better. Kinda sounds like peanut butter when you say it really fast. :)

To Doug Uhlinger – your comment made me chuckle, especially since I have a Psych degree. Do you think I have Saab envy?
