Your thoughts on TCS

Having lived with TCS on my 9-3 for almost two years, I'd like to be able to permanently disable it. I don't mind when TCS hits the brakes to give traction, but I do not like it when TCS kills the engine. There have been multiple times when I've been pressing the gas almost to the point of flooring it because of an oncoming car and TCS has killed the engine. Personally, I'd rather lose some rubber than my life. Also, I've become adept at modulating the throttle to reduce wheelspin. When TCS is engaged, it's not possible to learn how to modulate the throttle, as TCS kicks in. Personally, when I want traction, I turn TCS off, so that I'm in control and not a machine.
What are other people's thoughts about TCS?
