I am tired of the hate posts around SUVs. I live in the land of SUVs (Texas) and I don't see them driven any faster than the other idiots on the road. It doesn't take a big car to kill someone. Speed does kill. As in Richard P's post I would rather get hit by an SUV at 50 than an M5 at 100. Hell most of the tractor trailers out there drive equally as fast and often have tired drivers at the wheel not to mention poor brakes etc. SUVs are a fact of life and they are the same as a pick-up truck which have been around forever. Most SUV models are either based on car frames or pick-up truck frames -- its not a new concept, just different design.
At any rate my other car is a Suburban - thats about as big as it gets. I drive that car as carefully as my Saab. My wife drives it most of the time and is a capable and cautious driver. Don't sterotype SUVs as the problem - bad drivers are bad drivers and can do the same damage no matter what they drive.
Thats said -- about the only thing I do hate about SUVs on the road is the fact that they often block your view. This is really annoying when making a left turn and one sits across the road and you can't see oncoming traffic. Thats about the only rant I have;)
