With the USA accounting for around a third of production, and the USA being the main SUV market and the only one for sophisticated, road-worthy versions (any wonder BMW and MB make theirs here?) the cost to develop a "big'n" has to be a huge burden. Even piggybacking onto the Cadillac XLR program proved to expensive and that product was deep-sixed last summer. This leaves the 9-3X on track as Saab's first AWD product. To the extent that it can be sold as an SUV to keep the USA dealer body in-camp, it will be. And to the extent that the real live product is true to the concept vehicle, it will be absolutely terrific - and sell well globally.
